Dear Parent(s)/Legal Guardian,
Congratulations! Your child(s0 application to Northwood Academy has been accepted! We understand that this was a difficult decision for you. Our top notch doctors, nurses, and teachers promise to take extreme care of you child(s). We will work day and night for as long as it takes to cure him/her/they of the illness(es). Results are not guaranteed but, we will work our hardest.
Northwood is an asylum but, it's set up as a school. Not only will your children receive the medical attention they need, they will also work toward their high school diploma in a safe environment. Students will attend classes like regular teenagers, eat together, and stay in comfortable dorm rooms. There is plenty of fresh air and open space on our expansive grounds. Don't worry, we haven't had anyone escape. We have top notch security as well. Our security officers stay out of the sight from students. Our goal is to create an environment that feels less like an asylum and more like a college or boarding school to ease the mind of your troubled teen(s).
Once again, thank you for choosing Northwood!
Sincerely, Dr. John C. Aldridge

Northwood, Washington used to be a flourishing little mining town in the northern part of the state. It's located in a small valley in the moutains. Ten miles from the town, is Northwood Asylum/Sanitarium. It was first build in the 1880's for minors who fell ill with "minors lung", tuberculosis, and other unknown diseases. Many that came here died. In 1902, Northwood was added onto and was now also an asylum. New ways to treat any sort of illness were being tested on the patients of Northwood. It had a prime location in the moutains, it was easy to keep the crazys out of the publics eyes.
The town of Northwood was nearly abandoned in 1910, before WWI. Leaving a sparse population. In 1912, Northwood Asylum and Sanitarium was closed. No patient ever left that building alive, or "healed". The patients were never given a proper burial toward the end of this era. They were buried in mass graves out in the words, or cremated. Most were buried as it was easier to cover that up than cover the smell of burning flesh. The building was eventually abandoned by the beginning of WWI - it's secrets left inside.
Five years ago, a psychiatrist and psychologist went looking for such a place to rennovated and reopen. Dr. John C. Aldridge was working in junction with the government to open a new kind of psychiatric hopspital - one that was inviting, and easy way to hook in patients. They chose Northwood after extensive searching. It's location was perfect, the building was perfect. Each resident of the town of Northwood were forced to sign a document that said a word that Northwood was reopening would not be breathed. They were asked not to acknowledge any of the patients that may be brought into town from time to time, nor were they allowed to take about it amongst themselves. The government and Dr. Aldridge wanted complete secrecy. Even the President doesn't now about this.
After five years of labor, Northwood was remodeled, though it still looks old and scary. A staff has been hired, all had to sign confidentiality forms and all that jazz. The staff at Northwood are all doctors and nurses. Even the teachers that are employed have some sort of background in psychology. When dealing with the students accepted here, teachers need to how just how to deal with them.
This may appear as just another place for the insane. This isn't what it appears. Most of the students that attend just think it's a regular school at first. After awhile, they realize this isn't just a school - especially after a few of their school mates disappear. There is tight security in the basement of the building. That's where all the doctors have their offices, little do people know, there's more going on under the "school". The government is involved. That should have tipped you off. They are trying out new therapies once again on the students. Some aren't making it out alive.
